Committees on Health Services and Budget have undergone a capacity building on their mandates.
The Institute of Public Finance conducted a one-day sensitization workshop on budget advocacy for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNC and Immunization).
Areas of focus included: Need to prioritize MNC and Immunization, Identification domestic resources, mobilization and ring-fencing resource allocated to health services and exploring opportunities for meaningful engagement of the MNC alliance (community voices) in the budget process.
The Institute took members through preliminary findings on the sector working group, which was a presentation on health sector performance, trends in allocation against sector requirement, absorption, financing gaps, challenges and recommendations.
Health Services committee is mandated to among other duties oversee all matters related to county health services including health facilities, infrastructure, promotion of primary healthcare services while the Budget and Appropriations committee investigates,inquire into and report on all matters related to coordination, control,and monitoring of the county budget, examine the County Budget Policy Statement presented to the County Assembly among other duties.
The Health Services Committee is chaired by Hon. Lucas Radoli while Hon. Wills Opuka leads the Budget Committee.
