Members of the Public and stakeholders on Health matters have participated in the process of making a county legislation on HIV, AIDS and STI. The Health Services committee conducted a public hearing on the Kakamega County HIV, AIDS and STI, Bill, 2020, which was held at the Kakamega County Social hall.
The Bill seeks to provide for a framework for the coordination in the prevention, control and management of HIV, AIDS and STI, hence creating a county Law. It seeks to promote the realization of rights and fundamental freedoms of persons with HIV, AIDS and STI, provide for collaboration and cooperation among various stakeholders and inclusion of community in HIV, AIDS and STI management in the county.
The Bill, also seeks to promote public awareness on the scourge as well as provide for mobilization of resources the prevention, management and control of HIV, AIDS AND STI.
The Committee is chaired by Hon. Lucas Radoli.
