Kakamega County Assembly joined other County Assemblies in the inaugural County Assemblies Sports Association (CASA) games and cultural festival themed: ‘Enhancing the Legislative Agenda through Sports and Culture’ held at Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi City County.
The week-long event, which attracted over 1,500 participants – Members of County Assemblies (MCAs) and staff members- from the 47 County Assemblies was opened by Deputy President William Ruto.
Kakamega Couty Assembly presented 14 disciplines including football, netball, tug of war for both men and women, table tennis, cultural dance, among others.
The Assembly performed well in in Tug of war for Men when the team trampled on more than 40 teams (county assemblies) to take position three behind Kisumu County Assembly and Nyandarwa County Assembly, which emerged the champion.
The Assembly competed in the following disciplines: Chess, Netball, Volleyball, Pool Table, Table Tennis, Football, Athletics, Tug of war for Women, Tug of War for Men, Set piece, Cultural dance, Cat Walking/Beauty Contest.
Upbeat participants and players in Table Tennis, Tug of War for Men paddled up to final matches each emerging to position three in the respective categories.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Morris Buluma led the Kakamega delegation to the games.
CASA secretary general, Hon. Benard Omboko announced that the 2019 games will be held in Kisumu County.
