Majority Chief Whip


Hon. Omukongolo is among the three elected female Members of County Assembly (MCAs) and holds a Diploma in Human Resource Management (HRM) and a Certificate in Management from Kenya Institute of Management (KIM). She went to Khwisero Secondary School.

Hon. Omukongolo has worked before as the chairperson for Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party Women League in Ikolomani Sub-County, vice-chairperson and chairperson at St. Teresa’s Youth Polytechnic. She joined the County Assembly of Kakamega as nominated member in 2013. Later, she was elected in 2017 and 2022 as the representing Idaho North Ward.

Hon. Gladys Omukongolo Malenya – Deputy Majority chief whip

Born on 4th November, 1970, Hon. Omukongolo attended Ibinda primary school before joining Khwisero secondary school where she was a head girl and head girl respectively.

She is a holder of Diploma in Human Resource Management from Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) and has served as chairperson at St. Teresa’s Polytechnic (2008) and Nominated MCA – 2017 – 2013.
