Members of the Kakamega County Assembly have unanimously passed the County Supplementary Budget Estimates for the financial year 2018/19 calling on the County Executive Committee Members (CECMs) to ensure they implement projects in real time.
The county reps adopted the County Supplementary report and subsequently approved the County Supplementary Appropriations Bill saying the budget addresses needs of Wananchi.
While presenting the Supplementary Budget report during a special sitting on Friday, the Budget and Appropriations Committee Chairperson, Hon. Willis Opuka said the revised estimates for this financial year has gone down by Ksh. 18.3 million.
He said this comprises of Ksh. 156.3 million being increased in total own source revenue, Ksh. 359.2 million being an increase in the recurrent expenditure and a decrease of Ksh. 377.4 million for development expenditure.
The Appropriations Act, 2018 appropriated a total of Ksh. 14.5 billion for discretionary expenditure.
Members, Hon. Kennedy Kilwake (Sango ward), Hon. Walter Andati (Butsotso South ward), Dickson Ombayo (Nzoia ward) lauded the county executive for increasing allocation on construction of roads in wards by Ksh. 65.8 million in addition to the initial allocation of Ksh. 300 million in the main budget.
We want the county executive committee members to move with speed to ensure that the 10 km road construction per ward program is completed within this financial year,” Hon. Boniface Osanga, member for Khalaba ward said.
