HOUSE ADJOURNS FOR LONG RECESS.

The County Assembly of Kakamega has adjourned for two Months. Members of the Assembly (MCAs) proceeded on a long recess on Thursday, 5th December, 2024, pursuant to the provisions of Standing Order 25 (3) on the Calendar relating to adjournment of the Assembly to a day other than the next normal sitting day. The Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. James Namatsi who presided over the Thursday afternoon session in his communication to members of County Assembly said the House is scheduled to resume its sittings on Tuesday, 11th February, 2025 at 2:30 p.m. While addressing the House, the Speaker thanked members for execution of oversight activities, passage of Bills, approval of county development plans and municipalities among others.

The Third Session of the Third Assembly under the leadership of Speaker James Namatsi has been weighty and has seen a number of several Committee reports and Motions on diverse topics passed, questions both oral and written admitted by Members as well as Petitions. Notable reports that were adopted included; Examination of Quarterly Financial Statements of Kakamega County Agriculture Farm Input Fund for the period ended 31st March, 2024 and for Financial Year (FY) 2023/2024 by the Committee on Finance and Economic Planning; Examination of the Auditor General Report on County Assembly of Kakamega for the year ended 30th June, 2022 by Public Investments and Special Funds Committee. Others are, Health Services Committee Oversight visits to Health facilities across the County; Examination of the Auditor General Report for Kakamega County Dairy Development Corporation for the FY ending 30th June, 2021/2022 by Public Investments and Special Funds Committee; Kakamega County Education Fund 3rd Quarter by the Committee on Finance and Economic Planning.

The Assembly also passed , Kakamega County Facility Improvement Fund (FIF) for the 1st , 2nd and 3rd Quarterly reports and Financial Statements for the FY 2023/2024 by the Committee on Finance and Economic Planning; Approval of Butere, Malava and Matunda Municipalities among others. More so, a total of 7 Bills were passed by the House and assented to by H.E the Governor FCPA Fernandes Basara. We hope to see and have more coverage for Committees and the House as a whole while holding their sittings in the Fourth Session.
