Assembly Interrogates County ADP For The 2023/2024 Financial Year.

Assembly Sectoral Committees concluded the process of interrogating the County Annual Development Plan (CADP) for the 2023/2024 financial year.

The week-long exercise has ended with all the County Executive Departments appearing for grilling.

Derived from the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) in the budget cycle, this is the document from which the County Fiscal Strategy Paper (CFSP) that highlights development projects priorities of the financial is generated.

According to the proposed ADP, the department of Education, Science and Technology has prioritised equipping of 290 Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centres at a cost of Kshs. 60 million.

Under Trade, Tourism and Industrialization, the department intends to train 3000 traders at a cost of Kshs. 2 million to acquire specialized knowledge and practical skills as they venture into various businesses.

Lands, Housing, Urban areas, Survey and Physical Planning department has planned to purchase 50 acres of land under land banking in the said financial year at a cost of Kshs. 100 million down from proposed 100 acres at Kshs. 200 million in the CIDP.

The reduction, according to the County Executive Committee member (CEC) was attributed to the provided ceilings.

Speaking at the closure of the process, the chairperson to committee on Finance and Economic Planning, Hon. Bonface Osanga urged the officers from the Executive to ensure that the projects planned are implemented accordingly and timely.

“To enhance efficiency, we urge you to ensure all the projects are well implemented and this will help improve the welfare of the people of Kakamega County through formulation and implementation of all inclusive multi-sectorial policies,” remarked the chair
