MCAs PREPARE FOR THE 3RD SESSION

Members of the Kakamega County Assembly (MCAs) retreated to take stock of their performance in the past two sessions as they prepare to resume for the 3rd Session this week on Thursday 14th, February 2019 from the long recess.
During the 2nd Session (13th February 2018 – 11th February, 2019), the MCAs passed more than 20 Bills, adopted several House reports and Regulations as well as Motions.
All the Bills have been assented to.
The laws include: Kakamega County Dairy Development Corporation Act 2017, Kakamega County Environmental Management Act 2017, The Lake Regional Economic Act 2018, The Kakamega County Youth Service Act, 2018 among others.
As the Ward Reps embark to the plenary sessions from a two-month break, they have a lot of business to transact including adopting numerous house reports, which are lined up, and enhancing their legislation work.
Ahead of the resumption of this session, the MCAs retreated into their respective committees to set in motion activities on oversight, representation and legislation to be deliberated in plenary sessions.
While on recess, the county legislators worked with zeal through committees.
I am happy that members are up to the task because committees are generating good reports and business in the House. We are looking forward to a very productive session,” the Speaker, Hon. Morris Buluma, said when he officially opened the members’ retreat in Kisumu.
His sentiments were echoed by the Leader of Minority in the Assembly, Hon. David Ndakwa who stressed the need for his colleagues to be steadfast in carrying out their mandates.
